Latest Updates from Our Project:

Looking forward
about 6 years ago – Sun, Apr 08, 2018 at 01:08:56 AM

As announced, your dice are travelling (at the speed of dark, sometimes) to reach you.
To the benefit of everyone, I would like to recap where we are at, and answer here some questions I have received.

  • First of all, please note this is a partial shipment. You will not find any Sky's Edge, and your free Winter Day d6 might arrive later as well, depending on your reward tier.
  • Unless you had only pledged for a sample tier with no add-ons, you will find a receipt or invoice included in your envelope, or attached to its outside. On the back of the same receipt you'll find a link to submit your feedback, vote for new designs, and most importantly to help tracking the delivery of all rewards. If you answer, it will be possible to extimate when the shipments will reach anyone else... help your fellow backers :)
  • All rewards (except for sample tiers with no add-ons) where sent priority, but since they are departing from an island in the middle of the Mediterranean and will often be subject to custom formalities, they need time to get to you.
  • All shipments were sent untracked unless further agreements were made, since this proved to be the most convenient and reliable solution. Last year over 700 envelopes were sent this way, and while some came back, only one was apparently lost (and that was a national shipment to Italy).
  • The reason why up to 4 invoices were needed was that you will receive two shipments after having made one or two advance payments (one in 2017 after the campaign ended, one in 2018 for Backerkit add-ons). Doing only one invoice in 2018 would have meant having received your money twice (and be killed by taxes).
  • Your dice have been packed with care in bubblewrap bags, inside bubblewrap envelopes. I can't guarantee your mailman will use bubblewrap gloves. Anyway it wasn't always possible to add delivery notes for the abovementioned mailman, because mail regulations are strict about what can be written, in order to facilitate the automated reading of addresses.
  • The Sky's Edge are currently being manufactured, after the final sample was approved. In total, five samples were needed to make it right, hence this delay.

Once again, fulfillment proved long and tricky, but I look forward to offer you new designs.

Next time it will be mostly numbered full sets: the Sky's Edge, Outer Space, and...

... a full Purple Nebula set, silver painted, with silver glitter!
... a full Purple Nebula set, silver painted, with silver glitter!

While there might be other similar sets in the market, none of them use a proper sci-fi font like the custom one you see above. The reason is simple: making dice molds is an expensive, delicate and long process. This is why most new sets come with a factory standard font, from a well used mold (making broken numbers a common defect).

To me that sounds like having your characters go through all kind of adventures with the same old t-shirt in a new color, instead of wearing a more appropriate garment.

If you are going to play a space saga, wouldn't a space suit... suit them better?

Your dice were stolen
about 6 years ago – Mon, Apr 02, 2018 at 02:04:23 AM

Many backers are still waiting for their dice, and getting increasingly worried. It's time to reveal the truth and confirm their worst nightmare came true. Your dice were stolen.

The culprit has only been found today.
The culprit has only been found today.

It is ok if you don't believe me... you are quite right :)
I couldn't resist this unusual celebration of Easter and All Fools Day combined!

Anyway there were in fact some additional delays, as your dice weren't stolen, but... kidnapped! Evil Accountants wouldn't release them until up to 4 (FOUR) invoices were prepared for each of all 400 shipments going outside Europe, so your envelopes were sent in batches all through the month (the last were mailed this weekend). What a bummer.

This means also that while you might have to endure waiting, your rewards weren't lost.
On the contrary, they were all upgraded to priority mail to reach you faster, and all customs requirement have been taken care of in order to ensure a smooth transit. Moreover all the invoices for the next shipment are now ready as well, so your Sky's Edge will be sent to you as soon as they arrive. Good news: they are being manufactured right now!

While I am obviously sorry for taking so long to deliver your dice, there is not much more I could do (and I have really done whatever I could think of, no expense spared). Oh well.
Thanks for your patience, I promise next time it will be better.

I wish you some great family time :)

Out Of This World
about 6 years ago – Tue, Mar 06, 2018 at 11:08:52 PM

Fulfillment is in progress, and in a couple days all rewards destined to Europe will be sent. The other rewards are packed as well, but need additional paperwork for customs.

You will now be invited by BackerKit to verify your address one last time.

The factory is back to work after one month, making one last Sky's Edge prototype before production. In the meanwhile they sent me a gorgeous sample for a second set that will be offered along with the full Sky's Edge set in the upcoming Kickstarter: the Outer Space set.

Remember to follow Gio Lasar Design to be notified when the campaign is live!

Packing up
about 6 years ago – Tue, Feb 27, 2018 at 11:53:05 PM

It's been a long week, but all your new dice (Moonlit Night and Winter's Day d6) are now sitting with your rewards in cozy shipping envelopes. In order to proceed with packaging all the add-ons too, yesterday your BackerKit surveys have been locked.

Since these surveys were optional, if you only answered the one sent through Kickstarter then your address will be taken from there (these are locked too, now).

By the way, a few backers who submitted the BackerKit survey have since proceeded to update their address through Kickstarter, but unfortunately this move doesn't influence the BackerKit database, and there is no way to understand which address is the most current one. You will be contacted to specify which one to use for shipping.

Important:

If you have ordered add-ons, your credit cards will be charged tomorrow, unless your credit card details are missing from the survey... then you might only receive your Kickstarter reward at this time (minus the Sky's Edge d6 of course)!

Thanks for your support!

Unlimited Eclipses
about 6 years ago – Fri, Feb 23, 2018 at 05:37:02 PM

Thank you for completing your BackerKit surveys!

In two days your orders will be locked, and all add-ons will be prepared for shipping. You have still time to check if you need anything else (or to submit your survey, if you didn't already) and there is one valid reason you might want to do it: since everyone had enough time to order their limited edition silver / gold painted Eclipse d10, it is now possible to get as many as you please. This is what's still available:

57 x Silver on Night Black
21 x Silver on Sky Blue
2 x Silver on Morning Sky
18 x Silver on Twilight Gray

15 x Gold on Night Black
15 x Gold on Sky Blue
0 x Gold on Morning Sky
67 x Gold on Twilight Gray

These are only for backers, so any remaining ones will be sent as samples to retailers.

If you are one of the 70 backers who didn't complete the survey, please note a telephone number is required, but you can enter a zero if you don't want to share yours. If you don't want to order add-ons, this is fine, just check your address and submit the survey as it is.

If you lost your survey e-mail, you can still retrieve it by clicking here.
